The return of Downton Abbey inspires a surge in sales of Edwardian style décor
Sales of four-poster beds double in a month
As Brits anticipate the return of the nation’s favourite period drama, eBay has seen sales of Downton Abbey inspired household items rocket on the site, with sales of wooden four-poster beds doubling over the last month.
Sales of other Edwardian inspired décor have also shot up, with chandeliers and candelabras both up by more than 20% since August, while sales of aristocratic inspired dressing screens have increased by 35%.
Autumn dinner parties are clearly returning in true Downton Abbey style, with sales of elegant, ornate, serving platters on the rise and sales of Edwardian inspired cruet holders up by over 30%.
eBay spokesman, Steven Heywood, says; “It seems that the return of the nation’s favourite drama has inspired Brits to bring some of the series’ style into their own homes. With over 50,000 listings of chandeliers and almost 1,000 Edwardian style chairs currently on the site, eBay offers the perfect platform for Brits to browse Downton inspired décor.”
