As Love Island officially returned to screens last night, it’s already clear that the Islanders this series are looking to not only couple up with each other, but with pre-loved clothing too!
During last night’s launch episode, ALL Islanders rocked pre-loved items from eBay. With co-ords, mini dresses and bomber jackets from designer brands including Prada, Reiss and Diesel making an appearance.
The cherry on top? Some of the items were worn by Islanders last season, helping to further promote eBay’s message of circularity and inspire more conscious fashion habits*.
Alongside the Islanders jumping on the pre-loved trend, it seems that viewers have been too, with eBay UK seeing 1600% more searches for ‘pre-loved clothes’ since the announcement of the partnership and a massive 2.7 million people saying they will make more effort to shop more sustainably.*
For those wanting to get in on the pre-loved fashion action, shoppers can buy similar looks on the dedicated Love Island hub on eBay UK, and get their hands on the trends that have headed straight to the villa wardrobe; ‘Tutti Frutti’, ‘Business vs Party’, ‘Dressed up Denim’ and ‘Heavy Metal’.
Lana, Haris & Anna-May - Heavy Metal
Throughout the first episode, Lana channeled heavy metal vibes as she stunned in a KYRI black crystal top and matching crystal skirt, while Anna-Maysparkled in a Meshki dress with diamante cut outs. These styles are predicted to be on the rise this series, and viewers can get their hands on similar pre-loved versions too.
Also sporting the ‘heavy metal’ look was Haris, who donned a vibrant blue pre-loved Diesel bomber jacket - and similar options are available on eBay for just £45.00!
Amy Bannerman said: “Inspired by Kourtney and Travis, and taking the Love Island wardrobe to the dark side. Bringing back rebellious dressing with metallic skirts, leather jackets and vintage Ts, this trend feeds into both self-expression and showing pre-loved classics that will last a lifetime.
This trend will pair classic heavy metal with current fashion. It’s all about cut out tops, using sparkly pieces to lift the looks, metallic skirts, sexy leather trousers and timeless leather bombers.. We’ve seen it on the runway with designers going OTT with palettes and crystal fringing and we’ve seen it on the streets too.”
Ron & Kai - Business v Party
Ron showed off the ‘business v party’ trend expected to dominate screens in a classic Reiss shirt. The designer brand which has been worn by stars including Tom Holland is available on the pre-loved hub for just £12.50. Kai also stuck to the ‘business v party’ vibes, opting for some pre-loved Supreme trousers - available on eBay for £175.00, with Tanya showing her style with a structured fit, as she chose a House of CB white ruched corset dress - a similar style in blushing pink can be found on eBay for just £100.
Amy Bannerman said: “This trend is the merging of partywear with slouchy tailoring, and creating unique looks that can be worn day and night. For boys it is luxe shirts with smarter trousers. We’re seeing this trend showcased by the likes of Bella Hadid and Pete Davidson - it’s a great way to really make a statement simply in the outfit.
It’s all about crystal pieces paired with blazer dresses and effortless two pieces that create a blurred line between business and party.”
Shaq, Will, Olivia & Tanyel- Tutti Frutti
Jumping on the Reiss bandwagon, in last night’s episode, Shaq dazzled in a colourful Reiss palm-tree shirt and matching shorts, while Will also sported a palm-tree aesthetic by choosing a Prada floral print long sleeve shirt - available on eBay’s website for £225.
Opting for a Tutti Frutti look straight from the villa wardrobe, Olivia shone in a bold white fox boutique co-ord set. Wanting to get the bright pink set? Head to the Love Island hub and grab a similar style for just £70.00. And, setting out to make a statement, Tanyel glowed in a yellow Meshki maxi dress - available on eBay for just £80.00.
Amy Bannerman said: “This trend is all about colour and joy. It’s all about the pinks, yellows, oranges and blues, integrated in an explosion of neon blazers and bright two-pieces. Dopamine dressing is here to stay from the summer, it’s just gone up a notch! We are finding people are dressing to boost their mood, steering away from neutrals, totally joyous!
The trend has been seen all over the runways, with pops of colour being worn by style-icon Hailey Bieber as she casually walks to get her morning coffee. I love how this trend really brings someone’s personality to life, and it can be done so simply with just one bold item in an outfit, or top to toe, depending on how brave you feel."
