11 NOVEMBER 2015, LONDON, 8:30AM – eBay has predicted that nine million Brits will visit its UK site on Black Friday 2015 (27th November).

In its milestone 20th year, eBay estimates that a staggering 25 items will be purchased each second through the marketplace on Black Friday in the UK. Two thirds of busy Brits will also enjoy Black Friday deals from the commute to couch, as they shop via mobile device.

Customers will be able to take advantage of a wide selection of deals running for eight consecutive days, from Monday 23rd November to Monday 30th November, with new offers revealed at 8.00AM GMT each day.

Research from eBay has also revealed insight into the way Brits will shop this holiday season*:

  • Across the nation, Brits are planning on spending more on gifts for their children than anyone else this December 25th, with partners coming in second and parents third

  • When it comes to ‘shop-spiration’ most Brits are bedding down, admitting their bed is the perfect place to dream up their Christmas shopping lists. Mobile shoppers also revealed that they would most likely purchase from the comfort of their living room sofa!

  • The average shopper will part with a total of £208.94 in gifts, with women acknowledging that they spend more than their male counterparts. 78% of the fairer sex also admitted to leading the Christmas shopping for their household this year. In fact, nearly half of women surveyed (45%) anonymously confessed to keeping a gift they had originally purchased for someone else!

  • There’s also a regional split on Christmas spend. London residents will spend the least on presents (£181.22) in comparison to major regional cities. Liverpudlians are set to spend more on festive goodies than any other city in the UK - an average of £239.30 in 2015
