Sunday, 9th May 2021: ebay.com.au, Australia’s number one shopping site¹, has strengthened its partnership with Sendle, Australia’s first 100% carbon neutral shipping service, to give sellers the most streamlined and hassle-free way to send parcels nationally.
In an Australian first, individuals, side hustlers and small businesses who sell on eBay can now schedule a parcel pickup from their home or office without having to print a postage label - making selling and sending easier than ever. Available from today, eBay sellers in most metro and regional areas² of Australia can use eBay Printer-Free when sending items domestically at no extra cost.
The process is simple:
- Once an item is sold, sellers select the “no printer required” option when scheduling a Sendle parcel pick up. Sendle will collect the item at no extra cost
- Sellers then package up the item for sending as they usually would
- They will receive a seven-character code to write on their parcel, along with the buyer’s name and address. No need for a printer!
- On pick-up, the driver attaches a barcode sticker that matches the code
- Both seller and buyer can track the parcel via My eBay once it’s on its way
eBay Australia’s Senior Director, David Ramadge says, “We are thrilled to partner with Sendle to bring eBay Printer-Free to our platform - the most convenient delivery option yet for eBay sellers.
“It’s the first time in Australia this technology has been made available³. We know a quarter (24%) of individual eBay sellers don’t have access to a printer⁴ - and with more people working from home, the service will be a game-changer for people looking for an easy and cost-effective way to sell and send.”
CEO and co-founder of Sendle, James Chin Moody says: “eBay Printer-Free reflects the growing trend of digital-only and removes the complexities many people face when they’re forced to print but don’t have easy access. It also reflects Aussies wanting more sustainable options available when they shop, sell and ship.
“In 2020, there was an increase in the use of Sendle’s fully compostable mailers, saving the planet from almost 800,000 pieces of plastic. Working with eBay Australia on eBay Printer-Free will continue Sendle’s commitment to the environment and finally provide Aussies with the sustainable shipping option they’ve been wanting,” says Moody.
This new sustainable offering is part of eBay Australia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its marketplace and creating a more streamlined experience for users - from listing to delivery and payment.
“In the past 12 months, eBay Australia has witnessed the rapid acceleration of e-commerce first hand with 12-million unique visitors each month alone. With the growth of online shopping and support for homegrown businesses, there’s never been a better time for Aussies to sell on eBay,” adds Ramadge.
eBay is the only consumer selling platform that offers a fully contactless selling experience via Sendle. Whether decluttering for some extra cash, starting a side hustle or growing a business, sell via Australia’s most convenient way at ebay.com.au. Find out more about how it works here.
