From today eBay Australia is pledging to bring the magic to online Christmas shoppers – acknowledging their responsibility to give shoppers a full sensory festive experience from the comfort of their homes. Customers may be shopping differently in the digital age, but that doesn’t mean they should miss out. To begin this process, eBay Australia has announced a partnership with digital music service, Spotify, whereby eBay users will be able to play their favourite Christmas tunes for free, while they shop online for all their loved ones.
Global eBay research* has revealed that for 65% of Aussies, the start of the Christmas shopping season is signalled by hearing Christmas music. eBay is encouraging online shoppers to enhance their Christmas cheer by cranking up the carols, lighting Christmas candles or settling close to the pine tree, bringing all the scents and sounds of Christmas to life while they shop.
Committed to bringing Christmas to online shoppers no matter what device they shop on, eBay Australia will also be handing out gingerbread-scented scratch and sniff stickers to commuters and shoppers, ensuring they get the Christmas cheer when they are shopping online.
We know that Australians are shopping via their screens more than ever before, but just because we are shopping differently, doesn’t mean we feel differently about wanting a Christmassy experience. Whether shopping on the bus or train, at work, on the couch or even on the toilet (we have the data to prove it!), now eBay will offer some Christmas cheer to all eBay Australian shoppers.
eBay Australia spokesperson, Megan English said, “It’s no surprise that in 2014, more Australians than ever before will be shopping for Christmas gifts and goodies via a screened device. But what is a surprise is that until now, shoppers have potentially missed out on some of the Christmas joy that comes with the music, decorations and scents of Christmas.
“As Australia’s largest online shopping destination, it’s our responsibility to make sure our shoppers have the best experience possible. Our aim is to bring just a little bit of Chrissy cheer to the 8-million Australians who choose to use eBay each and every month; to share some Christmas spirit by giving simple access to some all-time favourite Christmas tunes.”
Kate Vale, Managing Director at Spotify Australia & New Zealand says, “We’re extremely excited to be working with eBay to bring Christmas joy to their online community this season via an audible music experience. We believe eBay consumers will feel that little bit merrier when they tune in to our festive playlist on the eBay site while shopping for loved ones.”
