The partnership with eBay will promote passion for all things automotive. Peek at his personal car collection and watch him drive an eBay car at an upcoming race.
Do you feel the need for speed? Racing star and avid eBay shopper Dale Earnhardt Jr. does, and he has just formed a partnership with eBay that will move in several directions. Through the partnership, Earnhardt will share his passion for all things automotive and give back to the community through the Dale Earnhardt Jr. foundation.
The multi-faceted collaboration is a natural extension of Earnhardt’s love of eBay, which he admits helps feed his addiction to the sport he loves -- car racing, anytime, anywhere.
“eBay’s been an outlet for my passion around racing and the history of the sport for years,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I’m excited to share my favorite finds and let people take a peek at my personal collection of cars on eBay Garage.”
The partnership kicks off on May 28 and includes:
The eBay Car: Earnhardt will drive the #88 eBay Car at the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 14. You can watch the race on ESPN.
Garage for Good and Earnhardt’s Garage Profile: Earnhardt has created his own eBay Garage profile where fans can peek at his personal car collection. From May 28th – June 30th individuals who create their own profiles on eBay Garage can enter to win a 2014 Chevy Camaro. eBay will donate one dollar to the Dale Jr. Foundation for each entry (up to $25,000), and Dale will personally hand the Camaro keys to the winner.
Dale’s Collections: Earnhardt has curated his own collections on eBay – everything from his favorite vinyl records to hard-to-find books and die-cast cars. You can take a look at his collections here, and watch a video featuring his collections here.
“Beyond being a famous figure in racing, we believe fans will relate to the excitement Dale Jr. feels toward the sport off the track as well,” said Bryan Murphy, Head of eBay Motors. “We are looking forward to helping auto enthusiasts connect with the things they need and love on eBay the way Dale Jr. has for years.”
Off the track, Earnhardt is an avid racing history buff and true student of his sport. His passion includes religiously reading and collecting stock car magazine issues dating back to 1966, which he sources from eBay.
Through the eBay iPad app, Earnhardt says he is able to truly customize and tailor his shopping experience, adding, “I can stay in touch with the things I need and love wherever I am in the world.”
Earnhardt is also a devoted buyer, collector and frequent seller of die cast cars, vinyl records, and footwear.
eBay Motors and Dale Earnhardt are expected to announce additional exclusive opportunities through Earnhardt’s Garage on eBay in the coming months.
