Turning up the Volume on Giving

One brand, six charities, more than 85 celebrities and dozens of headphones — that’s all it took to kick-start Monster’s Headphones for Hope, a campaign that donated the proceeds from headphones autographed by music notables like Carrie Underwood, Snoop Dogg and Sheryl Crow, to charities that support a wide range of causes.

From June 26th – July 3rd, Monster teamed up with eBay to leverage the company’s DNA headphones to raise awareness for a number of important social issues, including HIV/AIDS prevention, the importance of music in childhood education and fostering a more accepting society. 100 percent of the $30,000 raised was donated to non-profit organizations focused on supporting these causes.

The program is just one example of the ways in which eBay Inc. powers charitable giving through our portfolio of platforms, programs and technologies. In fact, earlier this year, we set a goal to double the value of funds generated for charitable organizations, as well as the number of customers that take action on behalf of a charity through our platforms and programs by 2015; programs like Headphones for Hope are helping us get closer to achieving that vision.
