Contributing to the communities our colleagues call home is very important to us at eBay Inc. In fact, 35 of our offices have GIVE teams — groups of employees who are passionate about volunteering, participating in charitable events and allocating grant funds to organizations in their local communities. Many of our GIVE teams just wrapped up their first grant cycle for 2013 and recommended an impressive $270,840 to nonprofit organizations. Below, find background information on a few eBay Inc. GIVE teams and some of the organizations they recently supported with grants.
King of Prussia:
- The King of Prussia GIVE Team recommended a grant to Chester County Economic Development Foundation for the Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology (GETT) program. GETT provides activities that inspire girls in grades six through 12 to explore and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The above picture includes several girls who participated in the program.
Baltimore:
- Among other partnerships, the Baltimore GIVE Team supported the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development to bring in a part-time reading teacher/trainer to help improve the reading skills of at-risk youth by having them to read to children in a nearby elementary school.
Omaha:
- The Omaha GIVE Team continued their support of Angel Guardians, an organization that works to improve the housing, employment, fitness socialization and recreation of special-needs teens and adults.
Germany:
- The Germany GIVE Team recommended support to Laughing Hearts, an organization that provides psychological support to disadvantaged youth in Berlin.
