eBay is the most engaging brand on Twitter, ahead of MTV, Amazon, Starbucks and McDonald’s, according to a report from SimplyMeasured, which focuses on brand analytics. SimplyMeasured studied the Twitter activity of companies from two lists during the fourth quarter of 2013: The Interbrand 2013 Top 100 Brands and The Forbes 100 Best Small Companies in America. It found eBay’s total engagement on Twitter to top that of all other brands.
eBay has an active presence on Facebook and Twitter in 10 markets (U.S., Canada, Germany, U.K., France, Italy, Spain, Australia, India, and Russia), responding to customers who reach out for help and proactively looking for customers who may need help. The company’s Global Customer Experience team recognizes that customer outreach through social media is no longer just an option, and the team has more than 5,000 social media interactions with customers each month.
“I believe convenience is a key reason many customers prefer to contact us through social media,” said Conor Conneely, an eBay Social Media Teammate in Dublin, Ireland. “People can tweet us with questions and ask for advice directly from their smartphones while they’re on their way to and from work, while shopping, having a coffee, or traveling. People spend a lot of time in social media these days. Having a presence where people spend their time makes it really convenient for our customers.”
