Earlier this year, eBay announced it will begin intermediating, or managing, payments on the Marketplace platform. eBay is evolving its organizational structure to best support this critical initiative as it begins managing payments on a small scale later this year and fully transitions to its new payments experience by 2021. As part of this effort, Steve Fisher, eBay’s Chief Technology Officer, will take on the new role of Senior Vice President of Payments and relinquish his role as CTO. Mohan Patt, Vice President of Core Product Experience, and Mazen Rawashdeh, Vice President of Platform Engineering, will co-lead eBay’s Core Product and Technology organization.
“Payments is a critical initiative for eBay as we remain sharply focused on improving the customer experience on our platform. Steve brings exceptional leadership, business, product and technology expertise, as well as experience building eBay’s new payments capabilities from the beginning, to this role. I’m confident he will provide the right leadership for this important effort,” said Devin Wenig, CEO of eBay Inc.
“Mohan and Mazen have provided exemplary leadership and created significant innovation within the Core Product and Technology organization, implementing a customer-first mindset to drive product-based innovation for our buyers and sellers. They both will become members of eBay’s executive leadership team as we continue to transform our technology platform and customer experience on eBay,” Wenig continued.
Steve will be responsible for overseeing eBay’s overall payments initiative, including the strategy, business, risk, product and engineering efforts. Mohan will lead the Core Product Experience team, and Mazen will lead the Platform Engineering team. Steve, Mohan and Mazen each will report to CEO Devin Wenig.
