Stephen Curry and DonorsChoose.org have teamed up to launch a special campaign through eBay for Charity, where fans can add Curry’s custom, game-worn and signed "Moon Landing" Under Armour Curry 6 Basketball kicks to their collection. The campaign will benefit STEM education initiatives in Bay Area schools through a collaboration between DonorsChoose.org and the Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation. From today through January 13 at 4pm PT, shoppers can bid and make an impact at ebay.com/sc4STEM.
With only two pairs made globally, the game-worn and autographed custom "Moon Landing" Under Armour Curry 6 basketball sneakers are truly a collector's item for any sneakerhead. Stephen Curry wore these shoes on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in a home game versus the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena. The Under Armour Curry 6 basketball shoe is Curry’s latest signature basketball shoe and will be worn throughout the 2018-2019 NBA season. This limited-edition pair was hand customized by Mache and celebrates the great American achievement of landing on the Moon.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to acquire the skills they'll need to live successful, productive lives. One of the most effective ways to set our children up for success is to ensure they receive excellent STEM education,” said Stephen Curry. “Ayesha and I are passionate about making sure that STEM education is accessible and available to all children in the Bay Area.”
“We're deeply grateful to the Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation for supporting Bay Area teachers and students through DonorsChoose.org,” said Charles Best, founder of the nonprofit website. “These funds will provide resources for the next generation of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians to be successful in the classroom.”
“For us, this collaboration is about bringing awareness and supporting significant education, health and safety initiatives to eBay and the Warriors’ hometown in California,” said Brenda Halkias, General Manager of eBay for Charity. “The Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation and DonorsChoose.org aligns with eBay’s focus to use the power of our platform to connect passionate communities with the causes that are important to them. With this special charity campaign, we’re inviting our customers to shop with a purpose.”
Last year, eBay for Charity previously teamed up with Curry and Under Armour to honor the victims of the Ghost Ship Warehouse Fire, which devastated the Warriors’ home city of Oakland. Both signed by Curry, two custom-designed basketball sneakers created with Under Armour raised $45,201.
