Today, eBay reported solid progress in our second quarter. We delivered on the commitments we made last quarter and our business was stable.
Six months into 2015, I am encouraged by the state of our business and the progress we are making against our strategy. The year is shaping up well and I am confident in our full-year outlook.
I am laser focused on improving our competitiveness and driving stable, profitable growth over the long term. eBay’s success was built on providing unique selection and great value to our buyers around the world, and that commitment to our customers continues to guide our vision into the future.
Here’s my perspective on the early results as we execute our three-pillar business strategy:
As we seek to build a more robust commerce platform, we have begun to collect the necessary product data needed to improve discoverability.
We have also launched hundreds of thousands of new browse pages, and have launched thousands of new product pages that showcase what is truly unique about eBay. While this is a good start, this effort will take time and we will continue to work at it.
We are further enhancing our vibrant marketplace to continue to engage our core buyers and sellers.
The response to new services like eBay Valet and our new Promoted Listings initiative show that we are on the right track.
We committed to create exceptional product and brand experiences.
Last quarter, we rolled out significant improvements to search quality and relevance to enable buyers to more effectively find what they are looking for.
We will be launching an exciting new experience across mobile channels later this year. This will be a more engaging, discovery-based approach based on learnings from our iPad experience and unified across all of our mobile app platforms.
We will continue to substantially upgrade the buying and selling experience on eBay, with much more to come later this year.
We are intent on building a very focused business and we will continue to make investment decisions that are in line with our strategy.
As eBay celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we are making rapid changes to position our business for the future. My goal, and that of the entire leadership team, is for eBay to be the best global marketplace, and a great enduring internet business.
eBay was founded with a purpose-driven ethos which has fueled our company and brand. As we write the next chapter for this incredible company, we will continue to focus on our Purpose to empower people and create opportunity through Connected Commerce.
