PayPal recently released its newly redesigned mobile app for the iPhone and consumers around the world have been quick to embrace it. In its first weeks of release, the PayPal iPhone app was selected as the “App of the Week” on iTunes in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, France and Mexico.
In addition to a sleek new design, the PayPal app includes features that give consumers more control over their money. Users can send and request money, check their balances or withdraw funds or snap a photo of a check to add money to their PayPal account – free of charge. PayPal also re-launched the ‘Local” feature on the app, enabling consumers to find local merchants using the new PayPal Here service and pay them via PayPal.
“We’re not surprised that consumers worldwide have embraced our new iPhone app,” said Vice President of Mobile, Hill Ferguson (pictured on left). “People want more control over their money and they want it to work for them, not get in their way. The PayPal app is just another way we’re bringing this control to the consumer to enable them to make payments anytime, anywhere, and any way they want. Oh, and by the way, have you seen the new app? It's gorgeous.”
The PayPal mobile app has also been released for Android and Blackberry.
