My Vehicles just reached a significant milestone today. More than one million vehicles have been registered in My Vehicles, enabling users to share their experiences with others via social networks and enjoy more personalized shopping tailored to the vehicles they own.
My Vehicles offers users virtual “garages” where they can upload and share information about their cars, trucks and motorcycles; find parts and accessories; and even “store” their dream vehicles. The site also provides car fanatics with a platform to share their passion with millions of eBay Motors visitors worldwide, integrating with Facebook and Twitter (hashtag #MyVehicles). Users can create and share custom profiles with the ability to upload up to 24 photos.
“Car fanatics love to swap stories and information about their passion more so than others, especially those with similar model vehicles and genres, such as muscle cars, collector cars, etc.,” Danny Chang, Head of Marketing and Site Experience, eBay Motors told Mashable in an interview. “They want to share their vehicles and modifications, and also be inspired by new ideas they may not have thought of. The social aspect of My Vehicles provides a simple way to do this at scale, to reach many more like-minded enthusiasts quickly, not to mention the ability for everyday drivers and enthusiasts alike to easily find parts that fit their car.”
So what vehicles are people parking in their virtual garages? Here are some key data points:
• Nearly 250,000 users have parked two or more vehicles in their garage
• Chevy is the most saved make on My Vehicles (more than 236,600 saved)
• The Ford F-150 is the most saved model on My Vehicles (more than 42,200 saved)
• 2004 is the most saved vehicle model year on My Vehicles (more than 76,700 saved), indicating that Americans are driving their current vehicles for longer periods of time
