SAN JOSE, Calif. --(BUSINESS WIRE)--eBay today announced the official launch of "modJOBS” an original video series for the eBay Motors website and mobile application. modJOBS is eBay’s first participant-oriented video series that chronicles the transformation of vehicles ranging from modern performance cars to vintage metal.
“We’ll provide easy-to-follow advice to experienced car buffs as well as to weekend shade-tree mechanics. Unlike other programs, we can link viewers directly to featured suppliers on eBay that are ready to ship whatever is needed to build the car or truck of their dreams”
The eBay community of automotive enthusiasts plays an active role in the build including online discussions with expert car builders and voting on features of the project. modJOBS follows hot on the heels of last week’s launch of the “World’s Fastest Car Show” as eBay continues its goal of engaging automotive enthusiasts through both the web and via mobile platforms.
"With modJOBS, we’re providing new content each week in order to maintain the viewer’s interest while providing a platform for leading automotive brands to share their insights and knowledge with our highly-engaged fans,” said Mitch Gross, Senior Manager, eBay Motors. “modJOBS showcases what every enthusiast desires--real world projects, insights into brands, practical know-how and inspirational content.”
Hosted by Motor Trend Radio’s Alan Taylor the first eight episodes of modJOBS feature the customization of a 2012 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 from bone-stock to full-blown supercar. The series concludes with an online charity auction of the modified muscle car at the SEMA show, held November 1 to 4, 2011 in Las Vegas. Auction proceeds benefit Patriot Outreach, an organization dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD and other post-war ailments. The video portion of the experience is produced by Los Angeles-based Benchmark Entertainment of which Taylor is CEO.
“This will become a new and exciting destination for car aficionados,” said host Alan Taylor, an award winning radio and TV host and one of the most popular automobile experts in the industry. “We’ll provide easy-to-follow advice to experienced car buffs as well as to weekend shade-tree mechanics. Unlike other programs, we can link viewers directly to featured suppliers on eBay that are ready to ship whatever is needed to build the car or truck of their dreams,” Taylor explained. Participating suppliers in modJOBS’ first series include Ford Motor Company, Edelbrock, Eibach Springs, Magnaflow Exhaust, and others.
eBay Motors is the Internet’s leading automotive destination, drawing more than 14 million unique visitors each month. modJOBS’ web-based experience is eBay Motors’ latest collaboration with Triad Retail Media; the first — a content center to celebrate National Collector Car Day — was recently named a finalist for an OMMA Online Advertising Creativity Award alongside Nissan and Mercedes-Benz.
Triad Retail Media CEO Greg Murtagh explains the rationale behind developing unique content. “Advertisers want large-scale contextual marketing opportunities,” said Murtagh. “modJOBS delivers on multiple counts with the huge traffic of eBay Motors and with this new and exciting destination for car aficionados. Everyone wins.”
