In April, we helped launch the 2013 NYC BigApps competition, the fourth annual open data competition we’ve been pleased to sponsor for the first time this year. This year’s competition was unique in that it sought to address some of the biggest social challenges facing New York City, and in the end more than 500 people participated, developing more than 50 eligible apps!
This year’s Grand Prize winner was HealthyOut, an app that makes it easy for New Yorkers to find healthy eating options at nearby restaurants. Mayor Bloomberg announced all the winners at an award ceremony last month, and you can learn more about all of them here. Check out some pictures from the event:
