Over 500 eBay sellers from all over the U.K. gathered in Manchester, England for the eBay Connect seller event. Together, the sellers represented more than $1 billion in GMV.
Intended as a forum for sellers to come together and share ideas, best practices, and recommendations for the future, those in attendance left the August event with the tools necessary to continue to grow their businesses.
Ray Bird, Director of Early Bird Ventures Ltd., an automotive parts business based in Cheshire, said: “eBay Connect was an all-around awesome day, and it was so inspiring to meet fellow entrepreneurs selling on the platform. I got so many words of advice from others who have grown their business through eBay, and found the knowledge-sharing part of the day really useful.”
He continued: “I’m now thinking about areas I can develop the business that hadn’t occurred to me, including selling my wares in more countries. The new Seller Hub is also particularly exciting. I’m looking forward to having easy access to detailed sales figures, which will help to identify key sales trends from the business.”
The event also featured reporting from eBay U.K. leadership on updates, strategy, and plans for the coming year. Sellers at the event had the chance to attend workshops and interact directly with members of eBay’s PR and global Customer Service (GCX) teams, who traveled there from San Jose, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Dublin, Zurich, Berlin and Moscow.
Kristian Haigh, COO of Seller Growth EU, delivered a keynote outlining the organization’s strategy to offer consumers the best choice and most relevance, underpinned by the world’s most powerful selling platform.
John Valente, a Director of Product Management on the Seller Hub team, gave a presentation on the new Seller Hub, which is currently being used by over 100,000 sellers globally.
Matt Green, co-Founder of The iOutlet, an iPhone refurbishing business, said: “eBay Connect was a fantastic opportunity for us to meet and network with eBay staff and fellow sellers. It was great to engage with the people behind the platform and learn more about the technical aspects of the marketplace.
He continued: “I learned lots about eBay’s Daily Deals and will pick up with the team in the near future to see how our business can benefit from this and other announcements made on the day.”
