Fast Company just released its annual list of Most Innovative Companies, the magazine’s guide to the “businesses that matter most.” In the hot category of retail, eBay Inc. ranked among the top 10 for its global reach and local service.
“No industry has been more transfigured in the past year than retail,” Fast Company declared. eBay Inc. came in at No. 6 in that category, just above luxury brand Burberry, “for expanding its business model to become retailers’ best friend.”
The article noted how eBay has married the convenience of online shopping with the immediacy of the in-person retail experience, with eBay Now offering delivery in about an hour in certain U.S. cities and a U.K. partnership with Argos that allows for in-store pickup. And not only is eBay Inc.’s reach global, it’s interstellar as well! Fast Company also noted the launch of PayPal Galactic, an initiative exploring the possibility of payments in space.
The Most Innovative Companies issue will be on newsstands in March.
