On October 14, eBay Motors employee Sarah Burgess made racing history with her daughter Bridget by becoming the first mother-daughter duo to race against each other in a NASCAR series.
Both women are longtime drift and off-road racers with an impressive history of both wins and spectacular crashes. These days, Bridget is the main racer in the family, while her mom Sarah serves as owner of the BMI Racing team — pulling double duty as Bridget’s crew chief on race day.
Sarah is a senior business development and partnership manager for eBay Motors, where she helps to grow the marketplace’s presence within the industry. That is just one reason why Sarah and Bridget decided to race against each other.
“When I heard about the news that eBay Motors wanted to be a part of this historic moment for Bridget and I to race against each other, it was a sigh of relief,” said Sarah. “I was ecstatic. There’s a lot of people behind that decision [to race against my daughter] that helped support it, and that’s what I’m really, really thankful for.”
Bridget finished 12th overall, while Sarah, as a newcomer to the series, started last and finished in 17th place. Watch the highlight reel of the historic race to hear Sarah and Bridget talk about the joy of racing and their passion for cars.
