As a global business organization, eBay Inc. is committed to running facilities and systems by constantly improving strategies and adopting methods that radically reduce environmental impact and create more sustainable solutions. In an affirmation of those efforts, our newest PayPal office in Bangalore, India, recently received a prestigious “Gold” certification for its environmentally friendly commercial interior design and construction practices.
One of the three core Social Innovation goals focuses on enabling greener commerce. This goal is built around not only offering greener shopping solutions for our community like green.ebay.com and our Patagonia Common Threads and PGA Trade-in Network partnerships, but also reducing our impact on the planet through our operations. This includes reducing energy consumption, decreasing water use, and operating each of our offices to meet the highest of environmental standards.
“Our Bangalore facility is a great example of our commitment toward building sustainable infrastructure and safeguarding the future,” said Von Seetharaman, senior manager, Design and Construction. “The Gold certification by LEED reiterates eBay Inc.’s commitment towards enabling greener commerce around the globe.”
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The LEED rating system was developed by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) in an effort to develop high performance, sustainable buildings.
After a rigorous audit and inspection process, the Bangalore office received the Gold certification by LEED for its systematic design and interiors. This landmark was achieved through the hard work of a highly organized project team that comprises architects, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) designers, green consultants and contractors.
The certification also underlines eBay Inc.’s promise of providing the best facilities, infrastructure, and a healthy workspace to all our employees — making it a truly great place to work.
