At eBay, we’re building some of the world’s most efficient data centers, and we want other companies to do the same.
GigaOM reported earlier this week about eBay’s new Digital Service Efficiency (DSE) report, which measures how efficiently buying and selling transactions are delivered in terms of revenue, performance, cost and carbon footprint. The report also lays out a framework for other companies to follow.
The DSE dashboard, shown above, illustrates those metrics in an easy-to-understand format. As Dean Nelson, eBay’s vice president of data center strategy, told GigaOM, DSE “is the miles per gallon measure for technical infrastructure for eBay.”
