Program Surpasses $1 Billion in 2014.
The eBay Deals program in North America recently reached a significant milestone – surpassing $1 billion in sales for the first time in a given year. It marks a meaningful accomplishment for a program that offered just a single deal a day five years ago at its inception.
Since that time, eBay’s Deals program has become one of the largest of its kind in North America. Sales, which have risen 800 percent since 2011, are being driven by consumer demand for competitive prices, great buyer experiences, convenience and free shipping.
“We’re thrilled to have reached this goal, but the sky’s the limit given the significant demand among consumers for great deals,” said Shakeel Farooque, General Manager of eBay Deals North America. “Our focus is to continue to providing amazing selection, quality inventory, great prices, and an experience that keeps shoppers coming back for more.”
With a recently refreshed user experience, eBay’s Deals program features some of the top brands across a variety of categories, including electronics, home & garden, clothing, shoes and accessories. And it has been eBay’s sellers that have helped deliver some of the most competitively priced inventory to consumers this holiday season.
A recent study conducted by eBay revealed the majority of people (64%) believe it’s extremely important to get a good deal, while nearly three-quarters of people (72%) rely on holiday deals for shopping inspiration. So for this holiday season, eBay worked closely with its network of sellers around the world to provide more than 19,000 deals each day on this season’s must-haves.
Knowing that shoppers these days want in-demand inventory at competitive prices and a simple, engaging experience, the eBay Deals program is more than proud to deliver on those lofty expectations.
