Today, we’re announcing an agreement with Verizon that will seamlessly provide millions of users of Android phones with easy access to the eBay app when they buy or upgrade to a new device. Throughout the year, new Android smartphones will be equipped with the eBay app right out-of-the-box.
“We are thrilled to be working with Verizon,” said Suzy Deering, eBay’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Going forward, Android users will have the power and convenience of eBay in the palm of their hands, with a mobile app that has proven tremendously successful with mobile buyers and sellers.”
eBay has a long history of mobile leadership and the company’s apps have been downloaded more than 300 million times to date. With more than 54% of eBay transactions having at least one mobile touch point in Q4 2015, as well as 9 million listings being added via a mobile device each week, the eBay app has proven a go-to option for shoppers to both buy and sell great inventory.
On a related note, eBay announced a similar agreement with Acer last week, in which eBay homepage shortcuts are placed on new Acer laptops.
