“Owning my own business allows me to do what I love every day while providing for my family. Employing people in the community, creating opportunities for others, is also a big plus. By teaching our employees the online retailing process, we’re also passing on job skills that allow them to earn extra income – or even to branch off and start their own businesses.” – Colleen Rast
In 2001, Colleen's husband accepted a job that relocated the Rast family from Philadelphia to Montana. Colleen had difficulty finding a job in her field, and was reluctant to travel extensively or leave her family behind for the sake of a job. She began buying and selling items on eBay as a hobby, which grew quickly into a small business specializing in selling new premium brand apparel, antiques, collectibles, replacement dishware, locally-made gifts and gourmet foods.
When her husband's company closed due to the economic downturn, the couple decided to take Great Sky Gifts Inc. to the next level, and the family business has been booming ever since.
